What are you worth?

From Academe Today (The Chronicle of Higher Education), 9 April 2012

Two articles that  may be on assistance to CCI students contemplating working in academia appeared in today’s e-edition of Academe and they are as follows:

What Professors Make
Dig into faculty-salary data with The Chronicle’s interactive tool. See how your institution stacks up against its peers—and how salaries have evolved over time.

Interactive Table: Average Faculty Salaries, 2011–12
Examine how much 1,251 colleges paid their faculty members.

AND for those specifically interested in a career in academic libraries, the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) conducts an “Annual Salary Survey” of ARL member libraries located in the U.S. and Canada (including medical and law).   Data tables cover a number of salary categories, including “beginning professional salaries” and salary breakdowns by geographic region.  The survey information is limited to large U.S. and Canadian academic and research libraries that are members of ARL.  The survey is an excellent research tool for those either seeking to move up or those interested in securing their first professional position in academic libraries.
