Banned Books Week | 10 – 4 PM in Husted Hall (downtown campus)

“SCALA will be celebrating Banned Books Week with a raffle to benefit libraries in New York State that were damaged in the flooding caused by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.

Come buy a raffle ticket and get a chance to win one of the top 5 banned books from 2010. Tickets will be available in Husted Hall, outside the cafeteria, Monday through Wednesday from 10 to 4. Get one for 50 cents or 5 for two dollars! All proceeds raised will go to help the affected libraries restore collections and services.”

“Introduction to Research Databases and our EDiscover workshops are being offered again this week. We are also offering our Evidence Based Practice workshop which is an advanced research seminar. Here, you will learn how to find and evaluate resources of clinical social work practice. In order to sign up for this class, you must have completed the Social Welfare Research Seminar.”

Movies & Slide Shows: Live Movie Maker | 9:30 AM in the Interactive Media Center (Library basement b14)

“Windows Live Movie Maker is the latest edition of the classic movie and slide show making program from Microsoft. Participants in the class will learn how to create movies and slide shows and edit them by applying themes, titles, transitions, and much more. This is a free product that runs on Windows 7 (and Vista). Burning your movie to DVD with Windows DVD maker will also be discussed. Walk-ins welcomed.”
